Next time I’ll think twice before offering help
I know — the title is bulky. But it captures the surreality of that day perfectly. I thought that this story was, in fact, too absurd not to be told. Things like these keep happening to me and I can’t explain why.
I’m an avid believer in loving your neighbor as yourself. If everyone was following this principle then I’m sure that we’d live in a much better place. So I guess that’s why I can’t help offering random people my help when I see that they’re obviously lost, in pain, or otherwise in trouble.
Mostly that only takes a few minutes out of my day, and that’s absolutely okay. It’s my small contribution to society. However, I am putting a lot of emphasis on the word mostly here because sometimes people just don’t know when to stop. And I never know when to say no. The perfect storm. The ultimate combination capable of ruining my day.
I live very close to our city’s zoo. I used to have an annual pass before Covid and would check in on my beloved baby elephant, llamas, and red panda quite regularly.
