My German grandfather fought in WWII and had both a shrapnel brain injury and deep trauma. I always thought that his compulsive decluttering was perhaps due to these issues, but I had no idea that this was an actual mental health issue.
He would throw out absolutely anything. Even useful things that his family needed and things that had just been bought.
